a Some older Bibles, such as the King James Version, end the Lord’s Prayer with what is known as a doxology (an expression of praise to God): “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” The Jerome Biblical Commentary states: “The doxology . . . is not found in the most reliable [manuscripts].”
