1 Corinthians

13 ᾿Εὰν If ever ταῖς to the γλώσσαις tongues τῶν of the ἀνθρώπων men λαλῶ I may be speaking καὶ and τῶν of the ἀγγέλων, angels, ἀγάπην love δὲ but μὴ not ἔχω, I may be having, γέγονα I have become χαλκὸς copper ἠχῶν sounding ἢ or κύμβαλον cymbal ἀλαλάζον. clanging. 2 κἂν And if ever ἔχω I may be having προφητείαν prophecy καὶ and εἰδῶ I should know τὰ the μυστήρια mysteries πάντα all καὶ and πᾶσαν all τὴν the γνῶσιν, knowledge, κἂν and if ever ἔχω I may be having πᾶσαν all τὴν the πίστιν faith ὥστε as-and ὄρη mountains μεθιστάνειν, to be transplacing, ἀγάπην love δὲ but μὴ not ἔχω, I may be having, οὐθέν nothing εἰμι. I am. 3 κἂν And if ever ψωμίσω I should morsel out in food πάντα all τὰ the ὑπάρχοντά belongings μου, of me, κἂν and if ever παραδῶ I should give beside τὸ the σῶμά body μου, of me, ἵνα in order that καυχήσωμαι, I might boast, ἀγάπην love δὲ but μὴ not ἔχω, I may be having, οὐδὲν nothing ὠφελοῦμαι. I am being profited.

4 Ἡ The ἀγάπη love μακροθυμεῖ, is having longness of spirit, χρηστεύεται, it is kind, ἡ the ἀγάπη love οὐ not ζηλοῖ, is being jealous, οὐ not περπερεύεται, it is bragging, οὐ not φυσιοῦται, it is being puffed up, 5 οὐκ not ἀσχημονεῖ, it is behaving uncomelily, οὐ not ζητεῖ it is seeking τὰ the (things) ἑαυτῆς, of itself, οὐ not παροξύνεται, it is being provoked, οὐ not λογίζεται it is reckoning τὸ the κακόν, bad (thing), 6 οὐ not χαίρει it is rejoicing ἐπὶ upon τῇ the ἀδικίᾳ, unrighteousness, συνχαίρει it is rejoicing with δὲ but τῇ to the ἀληθείᾳ· truth; 7 πάντα all (things) στέγει, it is covering, πάντα all (things) πιστεύει, it is believing, πάντα all (things) ἐλπίζει, it is hoping, πάντα all (things) ὑπομένει. it is enduring.

8 Ἡ The ἀγάπη love οὐδέποτε never πίπτει. is falling. εἴτε Whether δὲ but προφητεῖαι, prophecies, καταργηθήσονται· they will be made ineffective; εἴτε whether γλῶσσαι, tongues, παύσονται· they will cease; εἴτε whether γνῶσις, knowledge, καταργηθήσεται. it will be made ineffective. 9 ἐκ Out of μέρους part γὰρ for γινώσκομεν we are knowing καὶ and ἐκ out of μέρους part προφητεύομεν· we are prophesying; 10 ὅταν whenever δὲ but ἔλθῃ should come τὸ the τέλειον, perfect (thing), τὸ the (thing) ἐκ out of μέρους part καταργηθήσεται. will be made ineffective. 11 ὅτε When ἤμην I was νήπιος, babe, ἐλάλουν I was speaking ὡς as νήπιος, babe, ἐφρόνουν I was minding ὡς as νήπιος, babe, ἐλογιζόμην I was reckoning ὡς as νήπιος· babe; ὅτε when γέγονα I have become ἀνήρ, male (adult), κατήργηκα I have made ineffective τὰ the (things) τοῦ of the νηπίου. babe. 12 βλέπομεν We are looking γὰρ for ἄρτι right now δι’ through ἐσόπτρου mirror ἐν in αἰνίγματι, obscure expression, τότε then δὲ but πρόσωπον face πρὸς toward πρόσωπον· face; ἄρτι right now γινώσκω I am knowing ἐκ out of μέρους, part, τότε then δὲ but ἐπιγνώσομαι I shall know accurately καθὼς according as καὶ also ἐπεγνώσθην. I was accurately known. 13 νυνὶ Now δὲ but μένει is remaining πίστις, faith, ἐλπίς, hope, ἀγάπη· love; τὰ the τρία three ταῦτα, these, μείζων greater δὲ but τούτων of these ἡ the ἀγάπη. love.
