32 And Leʹah became pregnant and brought a son to birth and then called his name Reuʹben,*+ for she said: “It is because Jehovah has looked upon my wretchedness,+ in that now my husband will begin to love me.”

8 Now these are the names of Israel’s sons who came into Egypt:+ Jacob and his sons: Jacob’s firstborn was Reuʹben.+

5 And the sons of Reuʹben+ the firstborn of Israel—for he was the firstborn;+ but for his profaning the lounge of his father+ his right as firstborn was given to the sons of Joseph+ the son of Israel, so that he was not to be enrolled genealogically for the right of the firstborn.
