3And Moses became a shepherd of the flock of Jethʹro,+ the priest of Midʹi·an, whose son-in-law he was.*+ While he was driving the flock to the west side of the wilderness, he came at length to the mountain of the [true] God,+ to Hoʹreb.+
3 And Moses went up to the [true] God, and Jehovah began to call* to him out of the mountain,+ saying: “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and to tell the sons of Israel,
16 And Jehovah’s glory+ continued to reside* upon Mount Siʹnai,+ and the cloud continued to cover it for six days. At length on the seventh day he called to Moses from the midst of the cloud.+
8 So he rose up and ate and drank, and he kept going in the power of that nourishment for forty days+ and forty nights as far as the mountain of the [true] God, Hoʹreb.+
4 “Remember, YOU people, the law of Moses my servant with which I commanded him in Hoʹreb concerning all Israel, even regulations and judicial decisions.*+
