5 “Simʹe·on and Leʹvi are brothers.*+ Instruments of violence are their slaughter weapons.*+

12 “As for me, look! I do take the Levites from among the sons of Israel in place of all the firstborn+ opening the womb of the sons of Israel; and the Levites must become mine.

24 For the tenth part of the sons of Israel, which they will contribute to Jehovah as a contribution, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance. That is why I have said to them, ‘In the midst of the sons of Israel they should not get possession of an inheritance.’”+
