1 And after the death+ of Joshua it came about that the sons of Israel proceeded to inquire+ of Jehovah, saying: “Who of us will go up first to the Caʹnaan·ites to fight against them?”

18 And they proceeded to rise up and go on up to Bethʹel and to inquire of God.+ Then the sons of Israel said: “Who of us should go up in the lead to the battle against the sons of Benjamin?”+ To this Jehovah said: “Judah in the lead.”+

42 Saul now said: “CAST lots+ to decide between me and Jonʹa·than my son.” And Jonʹa·than got to be taken.

11 Now the princes+ of the people had their dwelling in Jerusalem;+ but as for the rest of the people, they cast lots+ to bring in one out of every ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city,+ and the nine other parts in the other cities.

33 Into the lap the lot is cast down,+ but every decision by it is from Jehovah.+

26 So they cast lots+ over them, and the lot fell upon Mat·thiʹas; and he was reckoned along with the eleven+ apostles.
