14 “When you eventually come into the land that Jehovah your God is giving you, and you have taken possession of it and have dwelt in it,+ and you have said, ‘Let me set a king over myself like all the nations who are round about me’;+

22 Later the men of Israel said to Gidʹe·on: “Rule over us,+ you and your son and your grandson as well, for you have saved us out of the hand of Midʹi·an.”+

7 Then Jehovah said to Samuel:+ “Listen to the voice of the people as respects all that they say to you;+ for it is not you whom they have rejected, but it is I whom they have rejected from being king+ over them.
