28 And I will send the feeling of dejection* ahead of you,+ and it will simply drive the Hiʹvites, the Caʹnaan·ites and the Hitʹtites out from before you.+

11 “For your part keep what I am commanding you today.+ Here I am driving out from before you the Amʹor·ites and the Caʹnaan·ites and the Hitʹtites and the Perʹiz·zites and the Hiʹvites and the Jebʹu·sites.+

53 And YOU must take possession of the land and dwell in it, because to YOU I shall certainly give the land to take possession of it.+

16 And you must consume all the peoples whom Jehovah your God is giving to you.+ Your eye must not feel sorry for them;+ and you must not serve their gods,+ because that will be a snare to you.+

5 It is not for your righteousness+ or for the uprightness of your heart+ that you are going in to take possession of their land; in fact, it is for the wickedness of these nations that Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you,+ and in order to carry out the word that Jehovah swore to your forefathers, Abraham,+ Isaac+ and Jacob.+

12 For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you.+

7 Did not you yourself, O God of ours,+ drive away the inhabitants of this land from before your people Israel+ and then give+ it to the seed of Abraham, your lover,*+ to time indefinite?
