17 When Moses was sending them to spy out the land of Caʹnaan, he proceeded to say to them: “Go up here into the Negʹeb,*+ and YOU must go up into the mountainous region.+

2 Then Joshua the son of Nun sent two men out secretly from Shitʹtim*+ as spies, saying: “Go, take a look at the land and Jerʹi·cho.” So they went and came to the house of a prostitute woman whose name was Raʹhab,+ and they took up lodging there.

2 Then Joshua sent men out from Jerʹi·cho to Aʹi,+ which is close by Beth-aʹven,+ to the east of Bethʹel,+ and said to them: “Go up and spy on the land.” Accordingly the men went up and spied on Aʹi.+

23 And the house of Joseph began to spy+ on Bethʹel (incidentally, the name of the city before that was Luz),+

4 So David sent spies+ that he might know that Saul had for a fact come.
