13 Jehovah your God you should fear,+ and him you should serve,*+ and by his name you should swear.+

20 “Jehovah your God you should fear.+ Him you should serve,+ and to him you should cling,+ and by his name you should make sworn statements.+

19 At that he said: “They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As Jehovah lives, if YOU had preserved them alive, I would not have to kill YOU.”+

39 For as Jehovah, who is the Deliverer of Israel, is alive, even if it is in Jonʹa·than my son, yet he will positively die.”+ But there was no one answering him out of all the people.

6 Then Saul obeyed the voice of Jonʹa·than, and Saul swore: “As Jehovah is living,+ he will not be put to death.”

3 But David swore+ in addition and said: “Your father must surely know that I have found favor in your eyes,+ and so would say, ‘Do not let Jonʹa·than know this for fear he may feel hurt.’ But, in fact, as Jehovah is living+ and as your soul is living,+ there is just about a step between me and death!”+

26 And now, my lord, as Jehovah is living+ and as your soul is living,+ Jehovah has held you back+ from entering into bloodguilt*+ and having your own hand come to your salvation.*+ And now let your enemies and those seeking injury to my lord become like Naʹbal.+

33 “Again YOU heard that it was said to those of ancient times, ‘You must not swear+ without performing, but you must pay your vows to Jehovah.’*+
