38 As for the younger, she too gave birth to a son and then called his name Ben-amʹmi.* He is the father of the sons of Amʹmon,+ to this day.

7 At this Jehovah’s anger blazed against Israel,+ so that he sold+ them into the hand of the Phi·lisʹtines+ and into the hand of the sons of Amʹmon.+

12 Then Jephʹthah sent messengers to the king of the sons of Amʹmon,+ saying: “What do I have to do with you,*+ seeing that you have come against me to fight in my land?”

33 And he went striking them from A·roʹer all the way to Minʹnith+—twenty cities—and as far as Aʹbel-kerʹa·mim with a very great slaughter. Thus the sons of Amʹmon were subdued before the sons of Israel.

11 And Naʹhash the Amʹmon·ite+ proceeded to go up and camp against Jaʹbesh+ in Gilʹe·ad.* At that all the men of Jaʹbesh said to Naʹhash: “Conclude a covenant with us that we may serve you.”+
