17 Let us pass, please, through your land. We shall not pass through a field or a vineyard, and we shall not drink the water of a well. On the king’s road we shall march.+ We shall not bend toward the right or the left,+ until we shall pass through your territory.’”

21 So Eʹdom refused to grant Israel to pass through his territory.+ Hence Israel turned away from him.+

5 Do not engage in strife with them, because I shall not give YOU of their land so much as the width of the sole of the foot; because I have given Mount Seʹir to Eʹsau as a holding.+

9 Jehovah then said to me, ‘Do not molest Moʹab or engage in war with them, because I shall not give you any of his land as a holding, for to the sons of Lot+ I have given Ar+ as a holding.

19 and you must get close in front of the sons of Amʹmon. Do not molest them or engage in strife with them, because I shall not give you any of the land of the sons of Amʹmon as a holding, for it is to the sons of Lot that I have given it as a holding.+

15 and said to him:

“This is what Jephʹthah has said, ‘Israel did not take the land of Moʹab+ and the land of the sons of Amʹmon.+
