7 Jehovah now appeared to Aʹbram and said: “To your seed+ I am going to give this land.”+ After that he built an altar there to Jehovah, who had appeared to him.

18 On that day Jehovah concluded* with Aʹbram a covenant,+ saying: “To your seed I will give this land,+ from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Eu·phraʹtes:+

8 And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land of your alien residences,+ even the entire land of Caʹnaan, for a possession to time indefinite; and I will prove myself God to them.”+

3 Reside as an alien in this land,+ and I shall continue with you and bless you, because to you and to your seed I shall give all these lands,+ and I will carry out the sworn statement that I swore to Abraham your father,+

5 It is not for your righteousness+ or for the uprightness of your heart+ that you are going in to take possession of their land; in fact, it is for the wickedness of these nations that Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you,+ and in order to carry out the word that Jehovah swore to your forefathers, Abraham,+ Isaac+ and Jacob.+
