8 After that Cain said to Abel his brother: [“Let us go over into the field.”]* So it came about that while they were in the field Cain proceeded to assault Abel his brother and kill him.+

18 Finally the king said to Doʹeg:+ “You turn and assault the priests!” Immediately Doʹeg the Eʹdom·ite+ turned and himself assaulted the priests and put to death+ on that day eighty-five men bearing an ephʹod+ of linen.*

34 For this reason, here I am sending+ forth to YOU prophets and wise men and public instructors.*+ Some of them YOU will kill+ and impale,* and some of them YOU will scourge+ in YOUR synagogues and persecute from city to city;

2 Men will expel YOU from the synagogue.*+ In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills YOU will imagine he has rendered a sacred service* to God.+

12 Beloved ones, do not be puzzled at the burning among YOU, which is happening to YOU for a trial,+ as though a strange thing were befalling YOU.

10 But, after YOU have suffered a little while,+ the God of all undeserved kindness, who called YOU to his everlasting glory+ in union+ with Christ, will himself finish YOUR training, he will make YOU firm,+ he will make YOU strong.+
