12 Before a crash the heart of a man is lofty,+ and before glory there is humility.+

11 And he must slap out* his hands in the midst of it* as when a swimmer slaps [them] out to swim, and he must abase its haughtiness+ with the tricky movements of his hands.

6 However, the undeserved kindness which he gives is greater.+ Hence it says: “God opposes the haughty ones,+ but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.”+
