18 As for the Phi·lisʹtines,+ they made a raid upon the cities of the She·pheʹlah*+ and the Negʹeb*+ of Judah and got to capture Beth-sheʹmesh+ and Aiʹja·lon+ and Ge·deʹroth+ and Soʹco+ and its dependent towns and Timʹnah+ and its dependent towns and Gimʹzo and its dependent towns; and they took up dwelling there.

12 Syria from the east+ and the Phi·lisʹtines from behind,+ and they will eat up Israel with open mouth.+ In view of all this his anger has not turned back, but his hand is stretched out still.+

47 This is what proved to be the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Phi·lisʹtines+ before Pharʹaoh proceeded to strike down Gaʹza.+
