30 So Eʹsau said to Jacob: “Quick, please, give me a swallow of the red—the red* there, for I am tired!” That is why his name was called Eʹdom.*+

36 And this is the history of Eʹsau, that is to say, Eʹdom.+

5 “For in the heavens my sword+ will certainly be drenched. Look! Upon Eʹdom it will descend,+ and upon the people devoted by me to destruction+ in justice.

12 “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘For the reason that Eʹdom has acted in taking vengeance upon the house of Judah and they kept doing wrong extensively and avenged themselves on them,+

11 “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘On account of three revolts of Eʹdom,+ and on account of four, I shall not turn it back, on account of his pursuing his own brother with the sword,+ and [because] he ruined his [own] merciful qualities,+ and his anger keeps tearing away forever; and his fury—he has kept it perpetually.+

1 The vision of O·ba·diʹah:

This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said regarding Eʹdom:+ “There is a report that we have heard from Jehovah, and there is an envoy that has been sent among the nations, ‘Rise up, YOU people, and let us rise up against her in battle.’”+

4 “Because Eʹdom* keeps saying, ‘We have been shattered, but we shall return and build [the] devastated places,’ this is what Jehovah of armies* has said, ‘They, for their part, will build; but I, for my part, shall tear down.+ And people will certainly call them “the territory* of wickedness” and “the people whom Jehovah has denounced+ to time indefinite.”
