17 After these things, the son of the woman who owned the house fell sick, and his sickness became so severe that he stopped breathing.+

41 But look! a man named Jaʹi·rus came; this man was a presiding officer of the synagogue. And he fell at the feet of Jesus and began to plead with him to come to his house,+ 42 because his only daughter, who was about 12 years old, was dying.

As Jesus was going, the crowds pressed in on him.

38 And look! a man called out from the crowd, saying: “Teacher, I beg you to take a look at my son, because he is my only one.+
