19 If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world,+ but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.+

3 If, in fact, the good news we declare is veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing,

7 It is to you, therefore, that he is precious, because you are believers; but to those not believing, “the stone that the builders rejected,+ this has become the chief cornerstone”*+ 8 and “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.”+ They are stumbling because they are disobedient to the word.
