(Gr., Peʹtros, masc.; Lat., Peʹtrus, masc.; Syr., Kiʼ·phaʼ, preceded by the masc. personal pronoun hu); whereas the words for “rock-mass” are fem. (Gr., peʹtrai, dative, fem. sing.; Lat., peʹtram, fem.; Syr., kiʼ·phaʼ, preceded by the fem. demonstrative adjective ha·deʼ).
