Se le invita a la Asamblea de Distrito “Amadores de la Libertad”
DESDE noviembre de 1989 se ha dado prominencia como nunca antes al tema de la libertad. En particular la gente de países de Europa oriental ha disfrutado de una libertad política que desconoció por más de 40 años.
Pero hay una libertad más importante que toda libertad política. De esta podemos leer en la Palabra de Dios, la Biblia. En cierta ocasión Jesucristo dijo: “Conocerán la verdad, y la verdad los libertará”. (Juan 8:32.) Sí, los cristianos dedicados han sido librados del temor al hombre y de la esclavitud al pecado y la muerte, como leemos en Romanos 6:18, 22. Además leemos que “donde está el espíritu de Jehová, hay libertad”. (2 Corintios 3:17.) De hecho, la Palabra de Dios nos ofrece la gloriosa perspectiva de que “la creación misma también será libertada de la esclavitud a la corrupción y tendrá la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios”. (Romanos 8:21.)
Si alguien desea obtener libertad cristiana hoy día, tiene que hacer un esfuerzo solícito. De ningún modo se trata simplemente de seguir el derrotero más fácil. Además, en vista de las fuerzas que tienden a robarnos la libertad —Satanás el Diablo, su mundo inicuo y nuestras propias tendencias heredadas que nos inclinan al pecado— se requiere esfuerzo adicional para continuar disfrutando de tal libertad. Mediante su Palabra inspirada, su espíritu santo y su organización visible, Jehová Dios nos ha suministrado la ayuda necesaria. (Lucas 11:13.)
Con el fin de ayudar a todos los amadores de la libertad a tenerla fuertemente asida, las asambleas de distrito de los testigos de Jehová de este año hacen que se destaque el tema de “Amadores de la Libertad”. Estas asambleas serán de tres días; comenzarán un viernes por la mañana a las 10.20 y terminarán a las 4.00 de la tarde del domingo siguiente. Todos los que asistan serán refrescados y edificados espiritualmente mediante discursos conmovedores, entrevistas interesantes, demostraciones eficaces y un impresionante drama del día moderno; tampoco debemos pasar por alto el gozo que nos traerá el disfrutar de la agradable asociación con amigos de mucho tiempo y recién conocidos, el placer de cantar al unísono con otros miles de personas nuestros cánticos del Reino y el participar en las sinceras oraciones públicas.
Que todo siervo dedicado de Jehová se asegure de que nada le impida estar presente el viernes por la mañana al comenzar estas asambleas. Y asegúrese de traer consigo no solo su Biblia y su cancionero, sino también un lápiz y un cuaderno para notas. Venga, además, teniendo verdadera conciencia de su necesidad espiritual como parte de un pueblo libre. (Mateo 5:3.)
