LESSON 34

Gidiã Midia Veaitiɛ Yee Maazu Ɣaleni

After some time, the Israelites turn their back on Jehovah again and started worshipping false gods. For seven years, the Midianites use to steal the Israelite dem animals and destroy their food. The Israelites use to go in caves or in the mountains to hide theirself from the Midianites. They beg Jehovah to save them. So Jehovah send his angel to one young man name Gideon. The angel tell him say: ‘Jehovah na choose you to be strong warrior.’ Then Gideon say: ‘How I will save Israel? I no body.’

How Gideon will know that Jehovah na choose him? He put one piece of wool on the ground and tell Jehovah say: ‘In the morning, if the wool get wet from the dew but the ground still dry, then I will know that you want me to save Israel.’ The next morning, the wool wor soak with water and the ground wor still dry! But then Gideon ask Jehovah again, that the next morning the wool must be dry and the ground must be wet. When that one happen, Gideon wor finally convince that Jehovah na choose him. He put all his soldier dem together to fight the Midianites.

Jehovah tell Gideon say: ‘I will make the Israelite dem to win the war. But because you get plenty soldiers, maybe you will be thinking that, you win the war by yourself. Tell your soldier dem that scare, to go home.’ So 22,000 soldiers go home, and 10,000 stay. Jehovah tell Gideon again: ‘your soldier dem still plenty. Carry them to the river, and tell them to drink. You must only keep the soldier dem that will be drinking and at the same time looking to see the enemy dem.’ Only 300 soldiers wor drinking and still looking to see whether their enemy coming. Jehovah promise that only the 300 soldiers will conquer the 135,000 Midianites soldiers.

That same night, Jehovah tell Gideon say: ‘It time now for yor to attack the Midianites!’ Gideon give his men dem horns and big jars that get stick inside with fire on it. Then he tell them say: ‘Yor look at me, and do the same thing I will do.’ Gideon blow his horn and burst the jar. And he put the stick that get fire on it in the air, and shout: ‘Jehovah sword and Gideon sword!’ All his 300 men dem do the same thing. The Midianites wor scare and they started running all over the place. They wor confuse and they started attacking each other. Again, Jehovah help the Israelites to conquer their enemy dem.
