LESSON 36

Jɛfita Jehova Ɣi-Toni

The Israelite dem forget about Jehovah again and started worshipping false gods. When the Ammonites attack the Israelites to fight, the Israelites false gods wor not able to help them. The Israelite dem suffer for plenty years. Finally, they say to Jehovah: ‘We na sin against you. Please save us from our enemy.’ The Israelites destroy all their false gods and started worshipping Jehovah again. Jehovah never wanted them to continue suffering.

Then they choose one warrior name Jephthah to lead the people to fight against the Ammonites. Jephthah say to Jehovah: ‘If you help us to win this war, I promise you that when I come back home, I will give you the first person that will run to me from my house.’ Jehovah listen to Jephthah prayer and help him win the war.

When Jephthah go back home, the first person that run to him wor his daughter, his only child. She wor dancing and playing tambourine. You think wetin Jephthah will do? He remember his promise to Jehovah and say: ‘Oh no, my daughter! You break my heart. I made promise to Jehovah. And to keep my promise, I have to send you to serve to the tabernacle in Shiloh.’ But his daughter say to him: ‘Papa, if you promise Jehovah, you must keep your promise. But please allow me to spend two months in the mountains with my friend dem. Then I will go.’ Jephthah daughter serve Jehovah with her whole heart all her life to the tabernacle. Every year, her friend dem use to visit her to the tabernacle in Shiloh.
