King Saul grab Samuel coat and it tear

LESSON 39

Masa Maa Wũgi Yezɔi

Jehovah already give the Israelite dem judges to take the lead among them, but they wanted king. They tell Samuel say: ‘All the nation dem around us get kings. We want king too.’ Samuel wor feeling that it wor wrong, so he pray to Jehovah about it. Jehovah tell Samuel say: ‘That not you the people rejecting, that me they rejecting. Tell them that they can get their own king but that king will ask them for plenty things.’ But still, the people say: ‘We not care. We want our own king!’

Jehovah tell Samuel that one man name Saul will be the Israelite dem first king. When Saul go visit Samuel in Ramah, Samuel anoint Saul to be king by putting oil on his head.

Later on, Samuel call the Israelites together to show them their new king. But they wor not able to find Saul anywhere. You know why? Because, he wor hiding among the load. Finally, when they find Saul, they bring him and make him to stand in the middle among the people. Saul wor tall pass everybody, and he wor really fine. Then Samuel tell them say: ‘Yeh the person Jehovah na choose.’ Then the people started shouting: ‘Long live the king!’

First, King Saul use to listen to Samuel and obey Jehovah. But after some time, he change. For example, the king wor not suppose to offer sacrifice. But one time, Samuel tell Saul to wait for him until he come. But Samuel not come right away. So, Saul decide to offer the sacrifice hisself. Wetin Samuel do? He tell Saul say: ‘You not suppose to disobey Jehovah.’ But you think Saul learn from his mistake?

Later on, when Saul went to fight the Amalekites, Samuel tell Saul to kill everybody. But Saul not kill King Agag. Jehovah tell Samuel say: ‘Saul na turn his back on me, and he can’t listen to me again.’ Samuel wor feeling too sad, and he tell Saul say: ‘Jehovah will choose different king, because you na stop obeying him.’ As soon Samuel turn around to go, Saul grab Samuel clothes and Samuel clothes tear. Then Samuel tell Saul say: ‘Jehovah na take the kingdom from you.’ Jehovah wor going to give the kingdom to somebody who will love and obey him.

“To obey is better than a sacrifice.”—1 Samuel 15:22
