The people in Jerusalem wor surprise when they hear Jesus disciples speaking to them in their own language dem

LESSON 94

Kala-Dopoitiɛ Te Gala Na Gaa-Ɓai Maa Zɔlɔ-Woni

Ten days after Jesus go back to heaven, his disciple dem receive holy spirit. It wor on Pentecost 33 C.E., and people na come to Jerusalem from different-different place to celebrate. About 120 of Jesus disciples wor together in the room upstairs. Then right away, something wonderful happen. Something just like fire appear over each of the disciple dem head, and they started speaking in different-different languages. Then they hear loud sound just like heavy breeze in the house.

When the people dem who come to Jerusalem hear the sound, they run to the house to see what wor happening. They wor surprise when they hear the disciple dem speaking different-different languages. They say: ‘But this people dem coming from Galilee. How come they speaking our language dem?’

Then Peter and the other apostle dem stand in front of the crowd. Peter tell the people how they kill Jesus and how Jehovah bring him back to life. Peter say: ‘Jesus in heaven now and he sitting down to God right hand side, and he na send his holy spirit that he promise us. So that the reason why yor seeing and hearing this miracle dem.’

The things Peter say really touch the people heart, so they ask him: “Wetin we must do?” He tell them say: ‘Yor repent from yor sins and get baptize in the name of Jesus. Yor will also receive gift of the holy spirit.’ On that day, about 3,000 people get baptize. From that time, the disciple dem started getting plenty in Jerusalem quick-quick. The holy spirit help the apostle dem to form more congregations so that they can teach the disciple dem all the things that Jesus na command them to do.

“If you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.”—Romans 10:9
