3 You must not have any other gods besides me.*+

5 You must not bow down to them nor be enticed to serve them,+ for I, Jehovah your God, am a God who requires exclusive devotion,+ bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

25 You should burn the graven images of their gods in the fire.+ Do not desire the silver and the gold on them or take it for yourself,+ so that you are not ensnared by it, for it is something detestable to Jehovah your God.+

22 And during his time of distress, King Aʹhaz acted even more unfaithfully toward Jehovah. 23 He began to sacrifice to the gods of Damascus+ that had defeated him,+ and he went on to say: “Because the gods of the kings of Syria are helping them, I will sacrifice to them so that they may help me.”+ But they caused him and all Israel to stumble.
