17 When Joseph saw that his father kept his right hand placed on Eʹphra·im’s head, it was displeasing to him, so he tried to take hold of his father’s hand to move it from Eʹphra·im’s head to Ma·nasʹseh’s head.

32 The descendants of Joseph through Eʹphra·im+ were listed by name, by family, and by their paternal houses. All the males from 20 years old and up who could serve in the army were counted, 33 and the number registered of the tribe of Eʹphra·im was 40,500.

4 The descendants of Joseph were considered two tribes,+ Ma·nasʹseh and Eʹphra·im;+ and they did not give a share in the land to the Levites, except cities+ to dwell in and their pastures for their livestock and their property.+
