17 Instead, you should devote them completely to destruction, the Hitʹtites, the Amʹor·ites, the Caʹnaan·ites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Hiʹvites, and the Jebʹu·sites,+ just as Jehovah your God has commanded you; 18 so that they may not teach you to follow all their detestable practices that they have done for their gods, causing you to sin against Jehovah your God.+

2 Aʹhaz was 20 years old when he became king, and he reigned for 16 years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in the eyes of Jehovah his God as David his forefather had done.+ 3 Instead, he walked in the way of the kings of Israel,+ and he even made his own son pass through the fire,+ following the detestable practices of the nations+ that Jehovah had driven out from before the Israelites.

21 Ma·nasʹseh+ was 12 years old when he became king, and he reigned for 55 years in Jerusalem.+ His mother’s name was Hephʹzi·bah. 2 He did what was bad in Jehovah’s eyes, following the detestable practices of the nations+ that Jehovah had driven out from before the people of Israel.+
