2 They said: “Jehovah commanded my lord to distribute the land by lot+ as an inheritance to the Israelites; and my lord was commanded by Jehovah to give the inheritance of our brother Ze·loʹphe·had to his daughters.+

3 But Ze·loʹphe·had+ the son of Heʹpher, the son of Gilʹe·ad, the son of Maʹchir, the son of Ma·nasʹseh, did not have sons, only daughters, and these were the names of his daughters: Mahʹlah, Noah, Hogʹlah, Milʹcah, and Tirʹzah. 4 So they presented themselves before El·e·aʹzar+ the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the chieftains, saying: “It was Jehovah who commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers.”+ So at the order of Jehovah, he gave them an inheritance among the brothers of their father.+
