9 Jehovah went on to say to Moses: “I have seen that this is an obstinate* people.+ 10 So now let me be, and I will exterminate them in my burning anger, and let me make a great nation from you instead.”+

3 So Israel joined in worship of* the Baʹal of Peʹor,+ and Jehovah became enraged with Israel.

16 Be careful not to let your heart be enticed to go astray and worship other gods and bow down to them.+ 17 Otherwise, Jehovah’s anger will blaze against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain+ and the ground will not give its produce and you will quickly perish from the good land that Jehovah is giving you.+

14 At this Jehovah’s anger blazed against Israel, so he handed them over to plunderers who pillaged them.+ He sold them into the hand of the enemies around them,+ and they were no longer able to hold their own against their enemies.+
