18 So Aʹbram continued to live in tents. Later he came and dwelled among the big trees of Mamʹre,+ which are in Hebʹron,+ and there he built an altar to Jehovah.+

19 After that Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Mach·peʹlah in front of Mamʹre, that is, Hebʹron, in the land of Caʹnaan.

22 When they went up into the Negʹeb, they came to Hebʹron,+ where A·hiʹman, Sheʹshai, and Talʹmai,+ the Anʹa·kim,+ were living. Incidentally, Hebʹron had been built seven years before Zoʹan of Egypt.

3 So A·doʹni-zeʹdek king of Jerusalem sent this message to Hoʹham king of Hebʹron,+ Piʹram king of Jarʹmuth, Ja·phiʹa king of Laʹchish, and Deʹbir king of Egʹlon:+ 4 “Come to my aid, and let us attack Gibʹe·on, because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”+

13 And to Caʹleb+ the son of Je·phunʹneh, he gave a share among the descendants of Judah at the order of Jehovah to Joshua, namely, Kirʹi·ath-arʹba (Arʹba was the father of Aʹnak), that is, Hebʹron.+

13 And to the sons of Aaron the priest, they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer,+ namely, Hebʹron+ with its pastures, also Libʹnah+ with its pastures,
