18 So Jacob got up early in the morning and took the stone on which he had rested his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.+ 19 So he named that place Bethʹel,* but previously the city’s name was Luz.+

16 And the land that fell by lot*+ to the descendants of Joseph+ was from the Jordan at Jerʹi·cho to the waters east of Jerʹi·cho, through the wilderness going up from Jerʹi·cho into the mountainous region of Bethʹel.+

28 After consultation, the king made two golden calves+ and said to the people: “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here is your God, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”+ 29 Then he placed one in Bethʹel,+ and the other he put in Dan.+
