9 “Just be careful and watch yourself closely,* so that you may not forget the things that your eyes have seen and so that they may not depart from your heart all the days of your life. You must also make them known to your sons and to your grandsons.+

21 then you will say to your son, ‘We became slaves to Pharʹaoh in Egypt, but Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

18 “You must impress these words of mine on your heart and your soul* and bind them as a reminder on your hand, and they should be like a headband on your forehead.*+ 19 Teach them to your children, speaking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.+

If your children* should later ask you, ‘Why do you have these stones?’+ 7 you must tell them: ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were halted from before the ark+ of Jehovah’s covenant. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were halted. These stones will serve as a lasting memorial* to the people of Israel.’”+
