17 Here I am raising up against them the Medes,+

Who regard silver as nothing

And who take no delight in gold.

Jehovah has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes,+

Because he intends to bring Babylon to ruin.

48 The heavens and the earth and everything in them

Will shout joyfully over Babylon,+

For the destroyers will come to her out of the north,”+ declares Jehovah.
