49 “Jehovah will raise up against you a distant nation,+ from the end of the earth; it will pounce like an eagle,+ a nation whose language you will not understand,+ 50 a nation fierce in appearance that will show no regard to the old or favor to the young.+

29 In the days of King Peʹkah of Israel, King Tigʹlath-pil·eʹser+ of As·syrʹi·a invaded and captured Iʹjon, Aʹbel-beth-maʹa·cah,+ Ja·noʹah, Keʹdesh,+ Haʹzor, Gilʹe·ad,+ and Galʹi·lee, all the land of Naphʹta·li,+ and he took the inhabitants into exile in As·syrʹi·a.+

6 In the ninth year of Ho·sheʹa, the king of As·syrʹi·a captured Sa·marʹi·a.+ He then led the people of Israel into exile+ in As·syrʹi·a and made them dwell in Haʹlah and in Haʹbor at the river Goʹzan+ and in the cities of the Medes.+

20 “In that day by means of a hired razor from the region of the River,* by means of the king of As·syrʹi·a,+ Jehovah will shave the head and the hair of the legs, and it will sweep away the beard as well.

4 for before the boy knows how to call out, ‘My father!’ and ‘My mother!’ the resources of Damascus and the spoil of Sa·marʹi·a will be carried away before the king of As·syrʹi·a.”+

 6 It will be brought to As·syrʹi·a as a gift to a great king.+
