28 Aʹhaz+ was 20 years old when he became king, and he reigned for 16 years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in Jehovah’s eyes as David his forefather had done.+

5 So Jehovah his God gave him into the hand of the king of Syria,+ so that they defeated him and carried off a great number of captives and brought them to Damascus.+ He was also given into the hand of the king of Israel, who inflicted on him a great slaughter.
