4 The roads to Zion are mourning, because no one is coming to the festival.+

All her gates are desolate;+ her priests are sighing.

Her virgins* are grieving, and she is in bitter anguish.

 8 Jehovah has resolved to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion.+

He has stretched out the measuring line.+

He has not held back his hand from bringing destruction.*

And he causes rampart and wall to mourn.

Together they have been made weak.

 9 Her gates have sunk down into the earth.+

He has destroyed and broken her bars.

Her king and her princes are among the nations.+

There is no law;* even her prophets find no vision from Jehovah.+
