8 Then he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and he made unfit for worship the high places where the priests had been making sacrificial smoke, from Geʹba+ to Beʹer-sheʹba.+ He also tore down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the chief of the city, which were on the left as one entered the city gate. 9 The priests of the high places did not serve at the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem,+ but they did eat unleavened bread along with their brothers.

29 Hez·e·kiʹah+ became king at the age of 25, and he reigned for 29 years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was A·biʹjah the daughter of Zech·a·riʹah.+

5 He said to them: “Listen to me, you Levites. Now sanctify yourselves+ and sanctify the house of Jehovah the God of your forefathers, and remove what is impure from the holy place.+

34 As for our kings, our princes, our priests, and our forefathers, they have not observed your Law nor paid attention to your commandments or to your reminders* by which you warned them.

11 “Both the prophet and the priest are polluted.*+

Even in my own house I have found their wickedness,”+ declares Jehovah.

5 He then said to me: “Son of man, please raise your eyes toward the north.” So I raised my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the gate of the altar, was this symbol* of jealousy in the entryway.
