11 So the Israelites did what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah and served* the Baʹals.+

13 They abandoned Jehovah and served Baʹal and the Ashʹto·reth images.+

28 Aʹhaz+ was 20 years old when he became king, and he reigned for 16 years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in Jehovah’s eyes as David his forefather had done.+ 2 Instead, he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel,+ and he even made metal statues*+ of the Baʹals.

17 “Jehovah of armies, your Planter,+ has declared that a calamity will come upon you because of the evil committed by the house of Israel and the house of Judah, who have offended me by making sacrifices to Baʹal.”+
