Joshua
24 Then Joshua gather all the tribes of Israel together for Sheʹchem and call the elders of Israel, the heads of the people, the judges, and the officers, and them stand for front of the true God. 2 Joshua tell all the people say: “This one na wetin Jehovah the God of Israel talk, ‘Na the other side of the River* una papa-papa them be stay long time ago—Teʹrah wey be Abraham papa and Naʹhor papa—and them be de serve other gods.
3 “‘After some time, I carry una papa-papa Abraham from the other side of the River* and make-am waka for all the land of Caʹnaan and I make im children* plenty. I give-am Isaac; 4 then I give Isaac Jacob and Eʹsau. After, I give Eʹsau Mount Seʹir as im own; and Jacob and im sons go down to Egypt. 5 I later send Moses and Aaron, and I punish Egypt with wetin I do them, and then I bring una come out. 6 When I be de bring una papa them come out from Egypt and una reach the sea, Egypt people be de pursue una papa them with war chariots and horsemen go reach the Red Sea. 7 Them start to cry to Jehovah, so e put darkness between una and Egypt people, and e make the sea fall ontop them and cover them and una use una own eyes see wetin I do inside Egypt. Then una stay for the wilderness for many years.*
8 “‘And I carry una come the land of Amʹor·ite people wey be de stay for the other side* of River Jordan, and them fight una. But I put them for una hand so that una fit take their land as una own, and I destroy them comot from una front. 9 Then Baʹlak son of Zipʹpor, the king of Moʹab, stand up and fight against Israel. So e call Baʹlaam the son of Beʹor to curse una. 10 But I no gree listen to Baʹlaam. So e bless una many times, and I save una from im hand.
11 “‘Then una cross River Jordan and come Jerʹi·cho. And the leaders* of Jerʹi·cho, Amʹor·ite people, Perʹiz·zite people, Caʹnaan people, Hitʹtite people, Girʹgash people, Hiʹvite people, and Jeʹbus people fight against una, but I put them for una hand. 12 So I make life tire* una enemies before una reach there, and this one make them run from una—two kings of Amʹor·ite people. This one no happen because of una sword or una bow. 13 Na so I give una land wey una no work for and cities wey una no build, and una start to live inside them. Una de chop from vine farms and olive farms wey una no plant.’
14 “So, make una fear Jehovah and serve-am with pure heart,* and dey faithful to-am* and remove the gods wey una papa-papa them serve for the other side of the River* and for Egypt, and make una serve Jehovah. 15 Now if to serve Jehovah na bad thing for una, make una choose for unaself today who una go serve, whether na the gods wey una papa-papa them serve for the other side of the River* or the gods of Amʹor·ite people wey una de stay for their land. But as for me and my family, na Jehovah we go serve.”
16 Then the people answer say: “We no fit think-am say we go leave Jehovah and serve other gods. 17 Na Jehovah our God bring us and our papa them come out from the land of Egypt, from the place wey them take us as slaves, and na im do this wonderful signs wey we see with our eyes and e continue to protect us for the whole road wey we follow and from all the people wey we pass through their land. 18 Jehovah pursue all the people plus the Amʹor·ite people wey be de live for the land before we come. So, we go serve Jehovah too, because na im be our God.”
19 Then Joshua tell the people say: “Una no go fit serve Jehovah, because na holy God e be; e be God wey want make people worship only-am. E no go forgive una for the bad things wey una do* and una sins. 20 If una leave Jehovah and serve lie-lie gods, e go turn against una too and destroy una after e don do una good.”
21 But the people tell Joshua say: “No, but na Jehovah we go serve!” 22 So Joshua tell the people say: “Una be witness against unaself say na una choose to serve Jehovah by unaself.” So them talk say: “Yes, we be our own witness.”
23 “So, make una remove the lie-lie gods wey dey with una, and turn una hearts to serve Jehovah the God of Israel.” 24 The people tell Joshua say: “We go serve Jehovah our God, and we go obey im voice!”
25 So Joshua make agreement with the people that day for Sheʹchem and give them law and tell them wetin them go de do. 26 Then Joshua write this things for the book of God Law and carry big stone and put-am under the big tree wey dey near the holy place of Jehovah.
27 Joshua continue to tell all the people say: “See! This stone go be witness against us, because e don hear everything wey Jehovah tell us and e go be witness against una, so that una no go fit deny una God.” 28 Then Joshua tell the people say make them de go, make each person go im own property.
29 After this things, Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, die when e dey 110 years. 30 So them bury-am for the area wey im property dey for Timʹnath-seʹrah, wey dey the area wey mountains dey for Eʹphra·im, for the north side of Mount Gaʹash. 31 Israel people continue to serve Jehovah for all the time wey Joshua dey alive and for all the time of the elders wey live long pass Joshua, and wey see all the things wey Jehovah do for Israel people.
32 Them bury Joseph bones, wey Israel people be carry from Egypt for Sheʹchem, for the part of the land wey Jacob be buy from the sons of Haʹmor, wey be Sheʹchem papa, for 100 pieces of silver;* and e come be the property of the sons of Joseph.
33 And El·e·aʹzar the son of Aaron die. So them bury-am for the Hill of Phinʹe·has wey be im son, wey them be give-am for the area wey mountains dey for Eʹphra·im.
