Exodus
2 Around that time, one man wey come from the tribe of Le′vi marry one woman wey come from the tribe of Le′vi. 2 The woman get belle and born one boy. When e see how the boy fine reach, e hide-am for three months. 3 When e no fit hide the pikin again, e take basket* wey them make with papyrus plant and plaster-am with tar and liquid wey be like tar,* and e put the pikin for inside and put-am for where reed plants dey, near the side of River Nile. 4 But the boy sister stand for where no too far to see wetin go happen to the boy.
5 When Phar′aoh daughter come down come bath for the River Nile, im woman servants be de waka for the side of River Nile, and e see the basket for the middle of where the reed plants dey. Quick-quick, e send im slave girl to go bring-am. 6 When e open-am, e see the pikin, and the boy de cry. E pity for-am, but e talk say: “This one na one of the children of Hebrew people.” 7 Then the pikin sister tell Phar′aoh daughter say: “Make I go call one Hebrew woman wey go breastfeed the pikin and help you care for-am?” 8 Phar′aoh daughter tell-am say: “Go!” Quick-quick the girl go call the pikin mama. 9 So Phar′aoh daughter tell the woman say: “Take this pikin and breastfeed-am and take care of-am for me, and I go pay you.” So the woman take the pikin and care for-am. 10 When the pikin don grow, e bring the pikin to Phar′aoh daughter, and Phar′aoh daughter take-am as im pikin. E call-am Moses* and talk say: “Na because I don bring-am come out from water.”
11 Now that time, after Moses don big,* e go meet im brothers to see the kind suffer wey them de face.* E come see one Egypt person de beat one Hebrew person wey be one of im brothers. 12 So e look around where e dey, and as e no see anybody, e kill the Egypt person and hide-am for inside sand.
13 But the next day when e come out, e see two Hebrew men de fight with each other. So e tell the one wey cause the fight say: “Why you de hit your brother?” 14 With this one e talk say: “Who choose you as our ruler and judge? You de plan to kill me just as you kill that Egypt person?” Moses come de fear and talk say: “People go don surely know about this matter!”
15 Then Phar′aoh hear about-am and e try to kill Moses, but Moses run from Phar′aoh and go stay for the land of Mid′i·an, and e sitdown near one well. 16 Now the priest of Mid′i·an get seven daughters. Them come fetch water and still put water full the place wey them de put water for animals so that them go fit give water to their papa animals. 17 But as the shepherds de do everytime, them come and drive them comot. So Moses get up, e help* the women and give their animals water. 18 When them come house come meet Reu′el* their papa, e shout say: “How e be say una quick come house today?” 19 Them answer say: “One Egypt person save us from the shepherds, and e even fetch water for us and give the animals water.” 20 E tell im daughters say: “But where e dey? Why una leave the man for back? Call-am so that e go fit come chop with us.” 21 After that one, Moses agree to stay with the man, and e give im daughter Zip·po′rah to Moses to marry. 22 After, the woman born one boy and Moses call-am Ger′shom,* because e talk say, “I don be stranger wey de live for another man land.”
23 After long time,* the king of Egypt die, but Israel people continue to cry for inside their hearts because of their suffer as slaves. And them cry come out de complain, and because of their suffer as slaves, them continue to cry for help* to the true God. 24 As time de go, God hear the cry for inside their heart and God remember im agreement with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 So God put im mind for the suffer wey Israel people de face and God feel pity for them.*
