2 So Saul choose 3,000 soldiers from all Israel and carry them go find David and im men for the area wey get high-high rock wey mountain goats de stay. 3 Saul come reach one place wey them de keep sheep. Na stone them use make-am and e dey the side of the road. One cave still dey that place. Saul come enter inside the cave make e ease imself,* but David and im men sitdown for inside-inside for the back of the cave. 4 David men come tell-am say: “Na today be the day wey Jehovah de tell you say, ‘See! I don put your enemy for your hand, you fit do-am anything wey you like.’” So David stand up, sofri-sofri waka go cut the edge of the coat wey no get hand wey Saul wear. 5 But after, David heart* come de judge-am because e don cut the edge of Saul coat wey no get hand comot. 6 Then e tell im men say: “From the way Jehovah de see the matter, I no fit even think-am say make I do this kind thing to my lord, the person wey Jehovah don anoint. I no fit raise my hand do-am bad thing, because na person wey Jehovah don anoint e be.” 7 So this thing wey David talk come make the men control theirself and David no allow them attack Saul. But Saul comot from the cave de go im own.
8 Then David stand up comot from the cave and use loud voice call Saul say: “My lord the king!” When Saul turn look back, David come bow down and lie down for ground. 9 David come tell Saul say: “Why you de listen to the people wey de talk say, ‘See! David de plan to do you bad’? 10 Today, your own eye don see how Jehovah put you for my hand, for the cave. But when person talk say make I kill you, I pity you and I talk say, ‘I no fit raise my hand do my lord bad thing, because na person wey Jehovah don anoint e be.’ 11 Make you see, my papa, yes, make you see the edge of your coat wey no get hand, wey dey my hand, because when I cut the edge of your coat comot, I no kill you. Make this one show you and make you understand say e no dey my mind to do you bad, or to turn against you, and I never do any bad thing against you, but you de pursue me up and down to take my life.* 12 Make Jehovah judge between me and you and make Jehovah do you back for wetin you don do me. But my hand no go touch you. 13 Just as one olden days proverb talk-am, ‘Na wicked people de do wicked things,’ so my hand no go touch you. 14 Na who the king of Israel comot go de find? Na who you de pursue? Me wey just be like dog wey don die? Like ordinary fly? 15 Make Jehovah be our judge, and e go judge between me and you, e go look this matter, e go handle my case for me, e go judge me and save me from your hand.”
16 As David just tell Saul this things finish, Saul come talk say: “My pikin David, na your voice be this?” Then Saul start to cry well-well. 17 E come tell David say: “You dey righteous pass me, because you treat me well but na bad thing I use pay you back. 18 You don still tell me the good thing wey you do today as you no kill me when Jehovah put me for your hand. 19 Because na which person go see im enemy, come allow-am go free? Jehovah go pay you back with good because of wetin you don do for me today. 20 And now, see, I know say you go surely rule as king and say the kingdom of Israel go last for your hand. 21 So now, make you use Jehovah name swear give me say you no go wipe my children* comot after I don die and say you no go clean my name comot from my papa family.”* 22 So David swear give Saul. After, Saul come go im house. But David and im men climb up go the safe place.
