The Second of Kings
5 Now, Na′a·man wey de control the army of the king of Syria na important man wey im lord de respect, because Jehovah use-am help Syria people win their enemies.* The man na strong soldier, but e get leprosy.* 2 One time when Syria people come attack Israel people, them be carry one small girl from the land of Israel. 5 Then the king of Syria talk say: “Make you go now! And I go send letter to the king of Israel.” So e go, and e carry ten talents* of silver, 6,000 pieces of gold, and ten sets of cloths. 6 E carry the letter go give the king of Israel, and the letter talk say: “I de send my servant Na′a·man come meet you with this letter, so that you go cure im leprosy.” 7 As the king of Israel just read the letter, e tear im cloths and talk say: “I be God wey get the power to kill person and to make person dey alive? Because e send this man come meet me de tell me say make I cure im leprosy! Una de see-am by unaself say this man want quarrel with me.”
8 But when E·li′sha the man of the true God hear say the king of Israel tear im cloths, quick-quick e send message to the king say: “Why you tear your cloths? Abeg allow-am come meet me so that e go know say prophet dey for Israel.” 9 So Na′a·man come with im horse them and im war chariots and stand for where them de take enter E·li′sha house. 10 But E·li′sha send messenger to go tell-am say: “Go dip yourself inside River Jordan seven times, and your skin go change to how e first dey, then you go dey clean.” 11 So Na′a·man vex well-well and start to comot, de talk say: “I be tell myself say, ‘E go come out come meet me, stand here, call the name of Jehovah im God, and de move im hand back and front ontop the leprosy to cure-am.’ 12 A·ba′nah and Phar′par, wey be rivers for Damascus no better pass all the water for Israel? 13 Then im servants come meet-am and tell-am say: “My papa, if to say the prophet tell you say make you do one big thing, you no go do-am? But e just tell you say make you ‘go dip yourself inside water and dey clean,’ na im you no go fit do?” 14 So e go down and dip imself inside River Jordan seven times as the man of the true God talk, then im skin change to how e first dey, like small boy skin. 15 After that one, e go back go meet the man of the true God. Im and all the people wey come with-am,* and e stand for im front and talk say: “Na now I know say no God dey for any other place for the whole earth apart from Israel. Now abeg, make you accept gift* from me your servant.” 16 But E·li′sha talk say: “As Jehovah wey I de serve* dey alive, I no go accept-am.” E beg-am make e accept-am, but E·li′sha no gree at all. 17 At last, Na′a·man talk say: “If you no accept-am, abeg make them pack sand from this land wey go reach two mules* to carry, and give-am to me your servant, because your servant no go do offering wey them de burn or sacrifice to other gods apart from Jehovah. 18 But make Jehovah forgive your servant for this thing wey I de do: When my lord enter the house of Rim′mon to go bow down for there, na my hand e de use support imself, so when e bow down, I need to bow down too for the house of Rim′mon. Abeg, when I bow down for the house of Rim′mon, make Jehovah forgive your servant for this one.” 19 When e talk like that, E·li′sha come tell-am say: “Make you go well.” After e don comot and don go far small, 20 Ge·ha′zi wey be the servant of E·li′sha the man of the true God tell imself say: ‘See how my oga don allow this Na′a·man wey be Syria person go as e no collect wetin e bring. As Jehovah dey alive, I go run follow-am and take something from-am.’ 21 So Ge·ha′zi run follow Na′a·man. Abeg give them one talent of silver and two sets of cloths.’” 23 Na′a·man talk say: “Okay, take two talents.” Na′a·man come de beg-am and e wrap two talents of silver for two bags with two sets of cloths and carry them give two of im servants. Them come carry them de go, and Ge·ha′zi de follow them for back.
24 When e reach O′phel,* e collect them from their hand and put them inside the house, e come tell the men make them go. After them comot, 25 e go inside and stand near im oga. Then E·li′sha ask-am say: “Ge·ha′zi, where you go?” But e talk say: “Your servant no go anywhere.” 26 E·li′sha come tell-am say: “My heart be no dey with you when the man come down from im chariot to meet you? This na time to accept silver or to accept cloths or olive farms or vine farms or sheep or cows or men or women servants? 27 Now Na′a·man leprosy go dey your body and the body of your children-children forever.” At once, Ge·ha′zi comot from im front with leprosy, and im skin de white like snow.
