Leviticus 25:1-55

Leviticus

25 Jehovah still talk to Moses for Mount Si′nai say: 2 “Talk to Israel people and tell them say, ‘At last when una come inside the land wey I de give una, then the land go do sabbath to Jehovah. 3 Make you plant seed for your farm for six years, and make you trim your vine farm for six years, and you go gather wetin the land don produce. 4 But for the seventh year, you go get sabbath of complete rest for the land, na sabbath to Jehovah. Make you no plant seed for your farm or trim your vine farm. 5 Make you no harvest wetin grow by imself from the grain wey remain after the harvest, and make you no gather the grapes from your vine wey you no trim. Make the land get one year of complete rest. 6 But, una fit chop food wey grow for the land for im sabbath time; you, your man and woman slaves, the person wey you hire to work for you, and the strangers wey de live with you fit chop-am, 7 together with the animals wey fit live with people and the bush animals for your land. Them fit chop everything wey the land produce.

8 “‘You go count seven sabbath years, seven times seven years, and altogether, the time* of the seven sabbath years go be 49 years. 9 Then you go blow the horn loud for the seventh month, for the tenth day of the month; for the Day of Atonement, una go make people hear the sound of the horn for all una land. 10 Una must make the 50th year holy and announce to everybody wey de live for the land say freedom dey. E go be Jubilee* for una, and each of una go go back to im property, and make each of una go back to im family. 11 That 50th year go be Jubilee for una. Una no go plant seed or harvest wetin grow by imself from the grain wey remain, or gather grapes from vines wey them no trim. 12 Na Jubilee e be. E go dey holy for una. Una fit chop only wetin the land produce by imself.

13 “‘For this year of the Jubilee, make each of una go back to im property. 14 If una sell anything to person or if una buy something from-am, make una no cheat each other. 15 When you want buy land from person, make you think about the number of years after the Jubilee, and make e sell for you according to the number of years wey remain to harvest crops. 16 If na many years remain, e fit increase the price wey them go use buy-am, and if the number of years wey remain dey small, make e reduce the price wey them go use buy-am, because na the number of crops wey the land go produce e de sell to you. 17 Make nobody among una cheat another person, and you must fear your God, because I be Jehovah una God. 18 When una de obey my laws and continue to follow the things wey I don decide, una go dey safe inside the land wey una de live. 19 The land go produce, and una go chop belleful and una go dey safe as una de live for there.

20 “‘But if una talk say: “Wetin we go chop for the seventh year if we no plant seed or gather our crops?” 21 I go send my blessing to una for the sixth year, and the land go produce crops wey go dey enough for three years. 22 Then una go plant seeds for the eighth year and chop from the old crop until the ninth year. Una go chop from the old crop until una harvest crop again.

23 “‘Make una no sell the land for person to be im own forever, because the land na my own. For me, una be strangers wey de live for the land and people wey just de stay for the land. 24 For the whole land wey be una property, make una give right to the person wey get the land to fit buy-am back.

25 “‘If your brother come dey poor and need to sell some of im property, the person wey get the right wey be close family member to-am must come and buy back wetin im brother sell. 26 If anybody no get person wey get the right to buy-am back, but e come get money and e get wetin e go use buy-am back, 27 make e calculate the value of the crops for the years since when e sell-am and pay the balance* to the man wey e sell-am to, then e fit go back to im property.

28 “‘But if e no get wetin e go use buy-am back from-am, wetin e sell go dey with the person wey buy-am until the Jubilee year; and then e go get im property back for the Jubilee, and the property go be im own again.

29 “‘Now if person sell house wey dey inside city wey them fence, e go still continue to get right to buy-am back until the end of the year from the time wey e sell-am comot for hand; im right wey e get to buy-am back go still dey for one full year. 30 But if e no buy-am back after the end of one full year, the house wey dey inside the city wey them fence go remain forever as the property of the person wey buy-am, for all im generation. Make them no return the house for the Jubilee. 31 But, the house them wey dey for town wey no get wall wey surround-am, make una see-am as part of the open land. Them go continue to get the right to buy the house back, and make them return-am for the Jubilee.

32 “‘As for the house them wey be the Levites own wey dey inside their cities, the Levites go always get the right to buy them back. 33 When them no buy back the property of the Levites, the house wey them sell for inside the city wey be their own go still go back to the former owner for Jubilee, because the house them for the cities of the Levites na their property among Israel people. 34 Apart from that one, them no go sell the open land wey get grass, wey surround their cities because na their own forever.

35 “‘If your brother wey near you come dey poor, and e no fit support imself, you must support-am just as you go support stranger wey de live for the land and person wey de stay for the land, so that e fit continue to dey alive with you. 36 Make you no collect interest or use your brother make gain.* You must fear your God, and your brother go continue to dey alive with you. 37 Make you no borrow your brother money to collect interest or give-am your food to get gain. 38 I be Jehovah una God wey bring una come out from the land of Egypt to give una the land of Ca′naan, to show say I be una God.

39 “‘If your brother wey de stay near you come dey poor and e need to sell imself to you, make you no force-am to work like ordinary slave. 40 Make you treat-am like person wey you hire to work for you, like person wey just de stay for the land. Make e work with you until the Jubilee year. 41 Then e go leave you, im and im children* wey dey with-am and go back to im family. Make e go back to the property of im papa-papa them. 42 Them be my slaves wey I bring come out from the land of Egypt. So, make them no sell theirself the way people de sell slave. 43 Make you no ever treat-am for harsh way, and you must fear your God. 44 Make you take man and woman slaves from the nations wey dey around una. Una fit buy man or woman slave from them. 45 Una fit still buy slaves from the sons of the strangers wey de stay with una, from them and from their families wey them born for them for una land, and them go be una property. 46 Una fit give them as property to una sons wey go come after una, for them to inherit as their property forever. Una fit use them as workers, but make una no ever treat una brothers wey be Israel people for harsh way.

47 “‘But if stranger wey de live for the land or person wey just de stay among una come dey rich, and una brother wey near-am come dey poor, and e must sell imself to the stranger wey de live for the land, or the person wey just de stay among una, or to family member of the stranger wey de live for the land, 48 e go continue to get the right for person to buy-am back after e don sell imself. One of im brothers fit buy-am back, 49 or im uncle or the son of im uncle fit buy-am back, or any close family member,* one of im family people fit buy-am back.

“‘Or if e come get money, e fit still buy imself back. 50 Make im and the person wey buy-am calculate the time from the year wey e sell imself to the person wey buy-am until the Jubilee year, and the money wey e use sell imself go match the number of years. The value of the days wey e work for all that time go be according to wetin them de normally pay person wey them hire to work. 51 If plenty years still remain, the price wey e go pay to buy imself back go dey according to the number of years wey remain. 52 But if na only small number of years remain before the Jubilee year reach, then make e calculate-am for imself and pay the price to buy imself back according to the number of years wey remain. 53 Make e continue to work for-am from year to year as person wey them hire to work; and make you make sure say e no treat-am for harsh way. 54 But if e no fit buy imself back according to this conditions, then e go dey free for the year of Jubilee, the man and im children* wey dey with-am.

55 “‘And Israel people na my own slaves. Them be my slaves wey I bring come out from the land of Egypt. I be Jehovah una God.
