Deuteronomy
4 “Now, O Israel, make una listen to the laws and the decisions wey I de teach una to obey, so that una go dey alive and enter inside and take the land as una own, the land wey Jehovah, the God of una papa-papa them, de give una. 2 Make una no add anything to the word wey I de command una, and make una no remove anything from-am, so that una go fit obey the commandments of Jehovah una God wey I de command una.
3 “Una don see with una own eyes wetin Jehovah do for the matter wey concern Ba′al of Pe′or; Jehovah una God destroy everybody wey follow Ba′al of Pe′or from among una. 4 But all of una wey de hold Jehovah una God tight still dey alive today. 5 See, I don teach una the laws and the decisions, just as Jehovah my God don command me, so that una fit obey them for the land wey una go take as una own. 6 Una must make sure say una obey them, because this one go show say una get sense and una de understand things for the eyes of the people wey go hear about all this laws, and them go talk say, ‘This great nation na really people wey get sense and de understand things.’ 7 Which great nation get gods wey near-am as our God Jehovah near us anytime wey we call-am? 8 And which great nation get righteous directions and decisions like this whole Law wey I de put for una front today?
9 “Just dey careful and watch yourself well,* so that you no go forget the things wey your eyes don see and so that them no go comot from your heart all the days of your life. You must still make your sons and your grandsons know about them. 10 For the day wey you stand for front of Jehovah your God for Hor′eb, Jehovah tell me say, ‘Gather the people together for me, so that I fit make them hear my words, so that them fit learn to fear me all the days wey them go dey alive for the land, and so that them fit teach their sons.’
11 “So una come near and stand near the mountain, and the mountain de burn with fire wey go up reach heaven;* darkness, cloud, and dark cloud dey. 12 And Jehovah start to talk to una from the fire. Una hear the sound of the words, but una no see any person—na only voice una hear. 13 And e tell una im agreement wey e command una to obey—the Ten Commandments.* After, e write them ontop two stone slates. 14 That time Jehovah command me say make I teach una the laws and the decisions, wey una go obey for the land wey una go enter to take as una own.
15 “So, make una watch unaself well*—since una no see the shape of anything for the day wey Jehovah talk to una for Hor′eb from the middle of fire— 16 so that una no go spoil unaself with any image wey una carve for unaself wey get the shape of anything, anything wey represent male or female, 17 anything wey represent any animal for earth or anything wey represent any bird wey de fly for sky, 18 anything wey represent something wey de creep for ground or anything wey represent any fish inside water under the earth. 19 And when you look up for heaven and see the sun, the moon, and the stars—everything wey dey the heavens*—make them no deceive you and make you no bow down to them and serve them. Jehovah your God don give them to all the people under the whole heavens. 20 But una be the people wey Jehovah take and bring come out from the fire wey them de use melt iron, from Egypt, to be im own people,* as una be today.
21 “Jehovah vex for me because of una, and e swear say I no go cross River Jordan or go inside the good land wey Jehovah your God de give you as property. 22 Na for this land I go die; I no go cross River Jordan, but una go cross and take this good land as una own. 23 Make una dey careful so that una no go forget the agreement of Jehovah una God wey e make with una, and make una no carve image for unaself, anything wey be like wetin Jehovah una God command say make una no near. 24 Because Jehovah una God na fire wey de burn something finish, na God wey want make them worship only-am.
25 “If una don be papa to sons and grandsons and una don live for long time for the land and una start to behave for bad way and carve any kind of image and una do wetin bad for the eyes of Jehovah una God to make-am vex, 26 I de take heaven and earth as witness against una today, say una go surely die finish quick-quick from the land wey una de cross River Jordan to take as una own. Una no go stay long for the land, but them go destroy una finish. 27 Jehovah go scatter una among the people, and na only small number of una go survive among the nations wey Jehovah go drive una go. 28 For there, una go serve gods of wood and stone wey people use hand make, gods wey no fit see or hear or chop or smell.
29 “If una find Jehovah una God from there, una go surely see-am, if una look for-am with all una heart and all una soul.* 30 When you really de suffer and all this things don happen to you for future, then you go come back to Jehovah your God and listen to im voice. 31 Because Jehovah your God na God wey de show pity. E no go leave you or destroy you or forget the agreement wey e don swear to your papa-papa them.
32 “Now, ask about the days wey don pass before your time, from the day wey God create man for the earth; look from one end of the heaven go reach the other end of the heaven. Any wonderful thing like that don ever happen or anybody don hear anything like that before? 33 Any other people don hear the voice of God as e de talk come out from fire the way you don hear-am and still continue to live? 34 Or God don ever try to take any nation for imself from another nation with judgments,* with signs, with miracles, with war, with strong hand, with powerful hand,* and with things wey de make person fear, as Jehovah una God do for una for Egypt wey una see with una own eyes? 35 E don show you this things so that you go know say na Jehovah be the true God; no other one dey apart from-am. 36 E make you hear im voice from heaven so that e go correct you, and for earth e make you see im big fire, and you hear im voice wey de come out from the fire.
37 “Because e love your papa-papa them and e don choose their pikin them* wey come after them, e use im great power bring you come out of Egypt by imself.* 38 For una front e drive nations wey big and strong pass una, so that e go bring una inside and give una their land as una property, as e be today. 39 So, know today, and put-am for your heart say na Jehovah be the true God for heaven wey dey up and for the earth wey dey down. No other one dey. 40 You must obey im laws and im commandments wey I de command you today, so that e go better for you and your sons wey de come after you, and this one go make you fit stay long for the land wey Jehovah your God de give you.”
41 That time Moses separate three cities for the east side of River Jordan. 42 If anybody kill another person by mistake and e no hate the person before, e must run go one of this cities and live for there. 43 The cities na Be′zer wey dey wilderness for flat land* for the tribe of Reu′ben, Ra′moth wey dey Gil′e·ad for the tribe of Gad, and Go′lan wey dey Ba′shan for the tribe of Ma·nas′seh.
44 This one na the Law wey Moses put for front of Israel people. 45 This na things wey Moses give Israel people after them comot from Egypt, things to remind the people, the laws, and the decisions, 46 for the area of River Jordan, for the lowland wey face Beth-pe′or, for the land of King Si′hon of Am′or·ite people, wey be de live for Hesh′bon, wey Moses and Israel people win after them comot from Egypt. 47 And them take im land as their own, and the land of King Og of Ba′shan, the two kings of Am′or·ite people wey be de live for the east side of River Jordan, 48 from A·ro′er, wey dey the edge of the Lowland of Ar′non,* go up reach Mount Si′on, wey be Her′mon, 49 and all Ar′a·bah wey dey the east area of River Jordan, go reach the Sea of Ar′a·bah* wey dey the down part of the hills of Pis′gah.
