The Second of Kings
7 Then E·li′sha talk say, “Make you hear the word from Jehovah. This na wetin Jehovah talk: ‘For this time tomorrow, for the gate* of Sa·mar′i·a, one seah measure* of better flour* go be one shekel,* and two seah measures of barley go be one shekel.’” 2 So the officer wey the king trust ask the man of the true God say: “Even if Jehovah open the heavens make food de fall down like rain, this thing* go fit ever happen?” Because of wetin e talk, E·li′sha tell-am say: “You go see-am with your own eyes but you no go chop from the food.”
3 E get four people wey get leprosy wey be dey for where them de pass enter the gate of the city. Them come tell theirself say: “Why we want sitdown here until we die? 4 If we talk say, ‘Make we enter the city,’ as the serious hunger still dey the city so, we go die for there. And if we sitdown for here, we go still die. So now make we go the camp of Syria people. If them no kill us, we go still dey alive, but if them kill us, na the same die we go die.” 5 So when day don dark, them stand up and enter the camp of Syria people. When them reach the place wey them take de enter the camp, them see say nobody dey there.
6 This na because Jehovah don make the people for Syria camp hear the sound of war chariots and horse them, the sound of plenty soldiers. So them tell each other say: “See! The king of Israel don hire the kings of Hitʹtite people and the kings of Egypt to come fight us!” 7 Quick-quick, them stand up and run for evening when day don dark, them run leave their tents, horse them, donkeys, them just leave the whole camp like that and run make them no kill them.*
8 When this people wey get leprosy reach the side wey them take de enter the camp, them enter one of the tents and start to chop and drink. Them carry silver, gold, and cloths from there and go hide them. Then, them come back, enter another tent and carry things from there go hide.
9 At last, them tell each other say: “This thing wey we de do no good. Today na happy day and we suppose tell people this good news! If we delay and wait until day don break, them suppose punish us. So now, make we go report this thing for the king house.” 10 So them go, and them call the gatemen of the city and tell them say: “We go the camp of Syria people but we no see anybody for there, we no hear the sound of anybody at all. The only thing wey we see na the horse them and donkeys wey them tie and the tents wey them just leave like that.” 11 At once, the gatemen announce the news and them go talk-am inside the king house.
12 Quick-quick, the king stand up for night and tell im servants say: “Abeg make I tell una wetin Syria people de plan to do us. Them know say we de hungry, so them comot leave the camp to hide for bush and talk say, ‘Them go come out from the city, then we go catch them alive and enter the city.’” 13 Then one of im servants talk say: “Abeg, make some men carry five out of the horse them wey remain for the city and go check. See! Them go still die like all the plenty Israel people wey remain here. See! Them go still die like all the plenty Israel people wey don die, so make we send them go check.” 14 So them carry two chariots with horse them. The king come send them go the camp of Syria people and tell them say: “Make una go check.” 15 The people follow the road wey the Syria people pass, reach even River Jordan, and as them de go, them see say cloths and other things wey Syria people troway as them de run because of fear, full the road. Then the people wey the king send come back and tell the king wetin them see.
16 Then the people comot go pack things from the camp of Syria people. Because of this one, one seah measure of better flour* come be one shekel, and two seah measures of barley come be one shekel, just as Jehovah don talk-am. 17 The king be don choose the officer wey e trust as oga for the gate, but the people march-am for gate as them de pass, and e die, just as the man of the true God don tell the king when e come down come meet-am. 18 E happen just as the man of the true God tell the king say: “Two seah measures of barley go be one shekel, and one seah measure of better flour* go be one shekel for this time tomorrow for the gate of Sa·mar′i·a.” 19 But the officer be ask the man of the true God say: “Even if Jehovah open the heavens make food de fall down like rain, that kind thing* fit ever happen?” Because of wetin e talk, E·li′sha be tell-am say: “You go see-am with your own eyes, but you no go chop from the food.” 20 Na exactly wetin happen to-am be that, because the people march-am for gate as them de pass, and e die.
