Numbers
32 Now the sons of Reu′ben and the sons of Gad get animals wey plenty well-well, and them see say the lands of Ja′zer and Gil′e·ad na good place for their animals. 2 So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reu′ben meet Moses, El·e·a′zar the priest, and the chiefs of the people and talk say: 3 “At′a·roth, Di′bon, Ja′zer, Nim′rah, Hesh′bon, E·le·a′leh, Se′bam, Ne′bo, and Be′on, 4 the land wey Jehovah win for front of Israel people na good land for animals, and your servants get plenty animals.” 5 Them continue to talk say: “If you want show us favor, make you give your servants this land as their own. No allow us cross the Jordan.”
6 Then Moses tell the sons of Gad and the sons of Reu′ben say: “Una brothers go go fight war and una go continue to stay here? 7 Why una go make Israel people tire to cross enter the land wey Jehovah go surely give them? 8 That one na wetin una papa them do when I send them from Ka′desh-bar′ne·a to see the land. 9 When them go up to the Lowland* of Esh′col and see the land, them make Israel people tire to go enter the land wey Jehovah want give them. 10 Jehovah vex that day no be small sotey e swear say: 11 ‘The men wey come out from Egypt from 20 years go up no go see the land wey I don swear about to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because them no follow me with all their heart— 12 except Ca′leb the son of Je·phun′neh wey be Ke′naz person and Joshua the son of Nun, because them don follow Jehovah with all their heart.’ 13 So Jehovah vex for Israel people and e make them waka up and down for the wilderness for 40 years, until all the generation of people wey de do wicked things for the eyes of Jehovah die finish. 14 Now see, una be men wey de sin like una papa them wey make Jehovah vex more-more for Israel people. 15 If una turn back and stop to follow-am, e go surely leave them again for the wilderness, and una go make all this people die.”
16 After, them meet-am and talk say: “Make we build place them for here with stones for our animals and cities for our children. 17 But we go continue to ready for war and we go dey front of Israel people until we don bring them reach their place, but our children go live for cities wey get strong protection, wey dey safe from the people wey de live for the land. 18 We no go go back to our house them until each Israel person don receive im land as property. 19 And we no go receive property with them for the other side of the Jordan and go far, because we don receive our own property for the east side of the Jordan.”
20 Moses answer them say: “If una go do this one: Carry weapons for front of Jehovah for the war; 21 and if each of una carry weapons and cross the Jordan for front of Jehovah as e de drive im enemies comot from im front 22 until una don win the land for front of Jehovah, after, una fit go back and them no go hold una for anything for front of Jehovah and Israel. Then this land go be una property for front of Jehovah. 23 But if una no do this one, una don sin against Jehovah. And if na so, make una know say una go answer for una sin. 24 So una fit build cities for una children and place them to keep una animals, but una must do wetin una don promise.”
25 The sons of Gad and the sons of Reu′ben tell Moses say: “Your servants go do just as my lord de command. 26 Our children, our wives, our animals, and all our animals wey fit live with people go stay for there for the cities of Gil′e·ad, 27 but your servants go cross go the other side, every man wey carry weapon to fight war for front of Jehovah, just as my lord de talk.”
28 So Moses give command about them to El·e·a′zar the priest, to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the family groups from their papa side for the tribes of Israel. 29 Moses tell them say: “If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reu′ben cross go the other side of River Jordan with una, every man wey carry weapon for the war for front of Jehovah, and una win the land, then una go give them the land of Gil′e·ad as their property. 30 But if them no gree carry weapons and cross go the other side with una, then them go live among una for the land of Ca′naan.”
31 So the sons of Gad and the sons of Reu′ben answer-am say: “The thing wey Jehovah don tell your servants na im we go do. 32 We go carry weapons and cross go the other side for front of Jehovah to the land of Ca′naan, but the property wey we go take as our own go dey this side of the Jordan.” 33 So Moses give them—to the sons of Gad, the sons of Reu′ben, and to the half tribe of Ma·nas′seh wey be the son of Joseph—the kingdom of Si′hon wey be the king of Am′or·ite people and the kingdom of Og wey be the king of Ba′shan, the land wey dey the cities for those areas, and the cities for the land wey dey around.
34 And the sons of Gad build* Di′bon, At′a·roth, A·ro′er, 35 At′roth-sho′phan, Ja′zer, Jog′be·hah, 36 Beth-nim′rah, and Beth-ha′ran, cities wey get strong protection, and them use stone build place them to keep the animals. 37 And the sons of Reu′ben build Hesh′bon, E·le·a′leh, Kir·i·a·tha′im, 38 Ne′bo, and Ba′al-me′on—wey them change their names—and Sib′mah; and them start to give the cities wey them build again another name.
39 The sons of Ma′chir wey be son of Ma·nas′seh march go attack Gil′e·ad and win-am and drive Am′or·ite people wey be dey inside comot. 40 So Moses give Gil′e·ad to Ma′chir the son of Ma·nas′seh, and e start to live for there. 41 And Ja′ir the son of Ma·nas′seh march go attack them and win their small-small village them,* and e start to call them Hav′voth-ja′ir.* 42 And No′bah march go attack Ke′nath and win-am and all the towns wey surround-am and e start to call-am No′bah wey be im own name.
