Deuteronomy

19 “When Jehovah your God destroy the nations wey Jehovah your God de give you their land, and you take the land from them and don de live for their cities and their house them, 2 make you keep three cities separate for your land wey Jehovah your God de give you to take as your own. 3 Make you divide the territory of the land wey Jehovah your God don give you to take as your own to three parts, and prepare the roads so that anybody wey kill person fit run go one of those cities.

4 “Now this one na wetin go happen when person wey kill another person run go there so that e go dey alive: When e kill person by mistake and e no hate-am before; 5 like when e follow person go forest to go gather wood and e raise im hand to cut tree with ax, but the head of the ax fly comot from the handle and hit the person and e die, make the person wey kill-am run go one of this cities to live for there. 6 If no be so, as the person wey get the right to pay back* de vex,* e fit pursue the person wey kill another person, catch-am and kill-am, because the city too far. But e no suppose die, since e no hate the other person before. 7 Na that one make me de command you say: ‘Keep three cities separate.’

8 “If Jehovah your God make the territory of your land big as e don swear to your papa-papa them and e don give you all the land wey e promise to give your papa-papa them 9 —so far you sofri obey all this commandments wey I de give you today, to love Jehovah your God and de always do the things wey e want—then make you add three other cities join this three. 10 With that one, you no go kill innocent person* for your land wey Jehovah your God de give you as property, and nobody blood go dey your head.

11 “But if person hate another person and e be de wait to attack-am and e wound-am* well-well sotey e die, and the person don run go one of this cities, 12 then the elders of im city go call-am from there and carry-am give the person wey get the right to pay back,* and e must die. 13 Make you* no sorry for-am, and you must free Israel people from the blood of innocent person so that e go better for you.

14 “When you get your property for the land wey Jehovah your God de give you to take as your own, make you no move your neighbor boundary mark from the place wey your papa-papa them put the boundary.

15 “Make only one person no talk against* another person for any mistake or any sin wey e fit don do. Na from wetin two people talk* or from wetin three people talk, una go confirm say the thing wey happen na true. 16 If person wey get bad mind talk against another person say e do something and talk say the person break law, 17 the two men wey get the matter go stand for front of Jehovah, for front of the priests and the judge them wey go de serve that time. 18 The judge them go check the matter well, and if the person wey talk about the matter no talk true, and e don lie for the matter wey e bring against im brother, 19 make you do-am the thing wey e don plan to do im brother, and you must remove wetin bad from among your people. 20 The rest of the people go hear and fear, and them no go ever do any bad thing like this one again among una. 21 Make you* no sorry for the person: E go be life* for life,* eye for eye, teeth for teeth, hand for hand, leg for leg.
