The Second of Kings
8 E·li′sha come tell the woman wey e be bring im son back to life say: “Make you and your family stand up comot, and go live as stranger for any place wey you fit go, because Jehovah don talk say serious hunger go dey, and e go dey for this land for seven years.” 2 So the woman comot go do wetin the man of the true God talk. 3 After seven years don complete, the woman come back from the land of Phi·lisʹti·a people and go meet the king to beg-am say make them give-am im house and im farm back. 4 Now the king de talk with Ge·ha′zi wey be the servant of the man of the true God, and e tell-am say: “Abeg, tell me about all the wonderful things wey E·li′sha don do.” 5 As e just de tell the king how E·li′sha bring the boy back to life, the woman wey e be bring im boy back to life just come meet the king, de beg-am say make them give-am im house and im farm back. At once, Ge·ha′zi just talk say: “My lord the king, na the woman be this, and that im son wey E·li′sha bring back to life, na im be this.” 6 So the king ask the woman, and the woman tell-am the story. Then the king choose one of im servants wey get high position to help the woman. E tell-am say: “Give the woman all im things back, plus all the things wey them harvest from the farm from the day wey e comot from the land till now.”
7 E·li′sha come Damascus for the time when Ben-ha′dad wey be king of Syria de sick. So them tell the king say: “The man of the true God don come this side.” 8 When the king hear this one, e tell Haz′a·el say: “Carry gift make you go meet the man of the true God, and tell-am make e ask Jehovah say, ‘I go well from this sickness?’” 9 Then Haz′a·el go meet-am with gift wey e carry. E carry all kind of good things wey dey Damascus, and na load wey 40 camels carry. E come, and e stand for im front and talk say: “Your son, Ben-ha′dad wey be king of Syria send me come meet you to ask say, ‘I go well from this my sickness?’” 10 E·li′sha answer-am say: “Go tell-am say, ‘You go surely well,’ but Jehovah don show me say e go surely die.” 11 And e continue to look-am sotey e start to shame. Then the man of the true God start to cry. 12 Haz′a·el ask-am say: “Why my lord de cry?” E answer-am say: “Because I know the bad things wey you go do Israel people. You go use fire burn their place them wey get strong protection, you go use sword kill their strong men, you go carry their children nack for ground make them scatter, and you go tear the belle of their women wey get belle.” 13 Haz′a·el come talk say: “How your servant wey be ordinary dog fit do that kind thing?” But E·li′sha talk say: “Jehovah don show me say you go be king wey go rule Syria.”
14 Then e leave E·li′sha and go back to im lord, and im lord ask-am say: “Wetin E·li′sha tell you?” E answer-am say: “E tell me say you go surely well.” 15 But the next day, Haz′a·el carry blanket, chuk-am for water, and press-am for the king face until e die. Haz′a·el come start to rule as king after-am.
16 For the fifth year of Je·ho′ram wey be the son of A′hab the king of Israel, when Je·hosh′a·phat be king for Judah, Je·ho′ram the son of Je·hosh′a·phat wey be king of Judah come be king. 17 Na 32 years e be when e start to rule as king, and e rule for eight years for Jerusalem. 18 E do the things wey the kings for Israel do, just as people for the family* of A′hab do, because e marry A′hab daughter, and e continue to do wetin bad for Jehovah eyes. 19 But Jehovah no want destroy Judah because of im servant David, since e be don promise say e go always give David and im sons lamp.
20 For im time, E′dom people turn against Judah, them come get their own king. 21 So Je·ho′ram cross go Za′ir with all im chariots, and E′dom people be surround-am with the chariot commanders for there, but Je·ho′ram stand up for night to fight them and e win them, the soldiers come run go their tents. 22 But E′dom continue to dey against Judah till today. Lib′nah still turn against-am that time.
23 And the other story about Je·ho′ram, everything wey e do, them no write-am for the book wey talk about the things wey happen for the time of Judah kings? 24 Then Je·ho′ram die like im papa-papa them, and them bury-am with im papa-papa them for the City of David. Im son A·ha·zi′ah come start to rule as king after-am.
25 For the 12th year of Je·ho′ram the son of A′hab wey be the king of Israel, A·ha·zi′ah the son of Je·ho′ram wey be king of Judah come be king. 26 A·ha·zi′ah dey 22 years when e start to rule as king, and e rule for one year for Jerusalem. Im mama name na Ath·a·li′ah wey be the granddaughter* of Om′ri wey be king of Israel. 27 E do like people for the family* of A′hab and e continue to do wetin bad for Jehovah eyes like the family of A′hab, because im na in-law to the people for the family of A′hab. 28 So e follow Je·ho′ram the son of A′hab go Ra′moth-gil′e·ad to fight war with Haz′a·el wey be king of Syria, but Syria people wound Je·ho′ram. 29 So King Je·ho′ram go back go Jez′re·el so that e go well from the wounds wey Syria people wound-am for Ra′mah when e go fight Haz′a·el wey be king of Syria. A·ha·zi′ah the son of Je·ho′ram wey be king of Judah go down go Jez′re·el to go see Je·ho′ram wey be son of A′hab, because say them wound-am.*
