Numbers
11 Now the people start to complain and de vex for front of Jehovah. When Jehovah hear-am, e vex no be small, and fire from Jehovah come ontop them and start to burn some of them wey dey the end side of the camp. 2 When the people start to cry to Moses, e beg Jehovah and the fire stop to burn. 3 So them call the name of the place Tab′e·rah,* because fire from Jehovah don come ontop them.
4 The group of plenty different-different people* wey dey among them start to get long throat and Israel people too start to cry again and talk say: “Who go give us meat to chop? 5 We no fit stop to think about the fish wey we be de chop free of charge for Egypt, and the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic! 6 But now, we* don de weak finish. We no see anything at all apart from this manna.”
7 E come be say, the manna be like coriander seed, and e resemble bdellium gum. 8 The people go spread go everywhere and pick the manna, and grind-am for grinding stone or pound-am inside mortar. Then them go boil-am inside cooking pots or use-am make round-round bread, and e taste like sweet cake wey them put oil. 9 When the dew pour ontop the camp for night, the manna go still fall ontop-am.
10 Moses hear as the people de cry, family by family, each man for the domot of im tent. Jehovah really vex, and Moses too no happy at all. 11 Then Moses tell Jehovah say: “Why you don suffer your servant? Wetin make me no get favor from you, wey make you put the load of all this people ontop me? 12 Na me carry this people for belle? Na me born them, wey make you tell me say, ‘Carry them for your chest just the way servant* de carry pikin wey de suck,’ go the land wey you don promise to give their papa-papa them? 13 From where I go see meat give all this people? Because them continue to cry for my front say, ‘Give us meat to chop!’ 14 Only me no fit carry the load of all this people; e too much for me. 15 If na like this you go treat me, abeg, kill me now-now. If I don get favor for your eyes, no allow me face any other suffer.”
16 Jehovah answer Moses say: “Gather 70 men for me from the elders of Israel, men wey you know as* elders and people wey get high position among the people, and take them go the tent of meeting and make them stand there with you. 17 I go come down and talk with you for there, and I go take some spirit wey dey ontop you and put-am ontop them and them go help you carry the load of the people so that you no go carry-am alone. 18 Make you tell the people say, ‘Make una keep unaself holy for tomorrow, because una go surely chop meat, since una don cry for Jehovah ear and talk say: “Who go give us meat to chop? Life better for us when we dey for Egypt.” Jehovah go surely give una meat and una go chop. 19 Una go chop, no be only for one day or 2 days or 5 days or 10 days or 20 days, 20 but for the whole month, until e come out from una nose, and e don become something wey una hate, because una don reject Jehovah wey dey among una, and una be de cry for im front say: “Why e be say we comot from Egypt?”’”
21 Then Moses talk say: “The number of people wey I dey among them na 600,000 men wey use leg de waka,* and still you don talk say, ‘I go give them meat and them go chop enough for the whole month’! 22 If them kill all the sheep and other animals, e go dey enough for them? If them catch all the fish for sea, e go dey enough for them?”
23 Then Jehovah tell Moses say: “Jehovah hand too short? Now you go see whether wetin I talk go happen to you or e no go happen.”
24 So Moses comot go outside, and tell the people the thing wey Jehovah don talk, and e gather 70 men from the elders of the people and make them stand around the tent. 25 Then Jehovah come down inside cloud and talk to Moses and take some of the spirit wey dey ontop-am and put-am ontop each of the 70 elders. And as the spirit just settle ontop them, them start to behave like prophets,* but them no behave like that again.
26 Two of the men still dey inside the camp. Their name na El′dad and Me′dad. And the spirit start to settle ontop them, because them dey among the people wey them write their name, but them never comot go where the tent dey. So them start to behave like prophets inside the camp. 27 And one young man run and tell Moses say: “El′dad and Me′dad de behave like prophets inside the camp!” 28 Then Joshua the son of Nun, wey be the servant of Moses from when e dey young, answer and talk say: “My lord Moses, stop them!” 29 But Moses tell-am say: “You de worry* for me? No, I wish say all Jehovah people na prophets and say Jehovah go put im spirit ontop them!” 30 Later, Moses come back to the camp together with the elders of Israel.
31 Then breeze come from Jehovah and start to blow quail bird from the direction wey sea dey and de make them fall around the camp, for area wey reach about one day journey from this side and one day journey from the other side, everywhere around the camp, and them high reach about two cubits from ground.* 32 So the whole of that day, and the whole night, and the whole of the next day, the people stay de gather the quail bird. Nobody gather anything wey small pass ten ho′mers,* and them continue to spread-am everywhere round the camp for theirself. 33 But as the meat still dey for their mouth, before them chew-am, Jehovah pour im vex ontop the people, and Jehovah start to strike the people, and kill plenty of them.
34 So them call the name of the place Kib′roth-hat·ta′a·vah,* because na there them bury the people wey die because of long throat. 35 From Kib′roth-hat·ta′a·vah the people comot go Ha·ze′roth, and them continue to stay for Ha·ze′roth.
